Having lived in the area for decades — Sai Ying Pun has evolved a lot. Traditional Hk Cafes (Cha Chaan Tang / Bing Suts) were either very old from exterior to interior, or new hipster style; and you definitely western coffee shops have become more prevalent in the area. This “Cross Cafe” was a relatively new one (of less than 10 years of history) but embodied the decor of the 1969-70s, and the signature milk was their “Cross Brand” milk 十字奶, a local brand familiar to Hongkongers for decades. I like the fact that the food was generally not as oily as other HK Cafes nowadays, with reasonable pricing and serving sizes. Milk tea was above average. Packed with both tourists and locals living around the area on weekends — so expect a bit of packed seating and/or queues. Service was prompt as expected, and quite friendly (in HK standard). I’d recommend trying it.

Good quality local cafe @ reasonable prices; generous portions of breakfasts with options like oatmeal; also have own yummy yogurts; special drinks with milk like sesame milk; they have both nostalgic drinks like 忌廉溝鮮奶(cream soda X milk) & innovative drinks such as Singha Soda series using Singha soda water to make various mocktails, milk shake series using their own branded milk to make various milkshakes; lots of recommendations so easier for you to order; octopus acceptedAJ suggests: include more healthy options like avocado, fruits, yogurt breakfast sets; can offer smaller portions to avoid food wastage & replace that with a piece of fruit etc

Went in thinking it must be overpriced and generic but was thoroughly surprised. The price range was of normal Hong Kong cafes and the food they serve are actually quite delicious. The decor has an old Hong Kong feel to it and staffs are nice.

This place breaks the typical cha chaan teng mold a bit in that they skip the retro Hong Kong diner feel and offer a handful slightly more creative menu items like matcha french toast or a selection pineapple bun sandwiches. This means prices are a bit higher, service is somewhat friendlier, and the vibe is more modern, all characteristics that may or may not appeal to your cha chaan teng preferences.

We stumbled upon this place by accident. Came here for a quick bite as the tea time menu Set A looks interesting. It was indeed a good choice as the pineapple bun with black truffle scrambled egg is pretty good actually. It comes with hot coffee or tea. We got the hot yin yang (coffee mix tea) and it was not bad too. The yin yang is thick and sugar is served separately. The price is also very reasonable with HKD36 only.

Came here to have Sunday brunch. The food was quite good and the price of the brunch was acceptable. Didn’t feel the service was particularly bad coz normally no service should be expected in this kind of cha chaan tang. Didn’t see any arrogant server as described below. But I think their other food is on the pricey side. I work in Causeway and I always pass by their shop in CWB. There are many other cheaper and tasty choices in CWB, so this price tag doesn’t particularly attract me to visit again for lunch at work.
